The Downtown Music Series debuted to a packed plaza at the base of the brand new 7 World Trade Center last night. With the state of the art 7 WTC behind them, and the 6-year-old Pit on their right, The Hold Steady performed a tight one-hour set primarily consisting of material from Boys and Girls in America.
As a result of the courtesy of Music Downtown and permission to record, I was able to position my best equipment in front of the soundboard. Although this was an outdoor plaza susceptible to all matters of extraneous noise, the sound quality was quite excellent, and the recording is nearly flawless–there are some instances of minor wind noise.
The Old 97’s set was also recorded and will be posted later this week.
The complete show can be downloaded in FLAC [HERE].

Many many thanks for sharing & thanks for the link from Dime
Um, sorry. I would like to, but I don’t have permission to record this show, and my real job is getting in the way.
Short of getting an email from M.Ward asking me to record the show at 7:30 (which is his estimated stage time), I don’t see this happening.
i tried downloading the show and it will not properly download? any suggestions? when opening the files via itunes, the individual songs continually get larger until you actually erase them. not sure if that makes sense???
Itunes can’t play flac, here’s why:

Many thanks for this one. Only got into this band recently after seeing them on tv from the Glastonbury Festival. I would thoroughly recommend buying their first 2 albums “Almost Killed Me” and “Separation Sunday” as well as the “Boys And Girls In America” album – great band :-)
